Opening your private Python workshop…

YOUR GROWING TOOLKIT

Libraries & browser Python

MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME

Your workshop, your pace.

Each stage gives you just enough Python to build something real. Mistakes are useful clues. There are no lives or penalties. You can choose a starting point, take chapter challenges, or explore freely from your learning desk.

  1. Learn & predict. Read the example, then guess what it does. The example uses different values from your puzzle.
  2. Build & experiment. Write a few lines in the browser, Cursor, or VS Code. Reveal hints one at a time.
  3. Run & reflect. Check your code, read the feedback, and try a small change. Passing a lesson opens topics that use its skills. In Explore mode, every topic is available.

Bring it together with summary projects

After each group of related lessons, a larger summary project combines skills you already know. Its recap links back to those lessons, and its build plan breaks the task into manageable parts. Try it before moving on, or return later.

Using Cursor or VS Code

An IDE is the app you use to write code. Both Cursor and VS Code work with this course.

  1. Choose IDE file above the code area, then Download .py.
  2. Open that file in your editor and write your solution. Save it with ⌘ S on Mac or Ctrl S on Windows or Linux.
  3. Return here, choose your edited .py file, and select Check chosen file. Choose it again after each edit in your IDE.

Files you choose are read locally and are not uploaded. This website cannot automatically watch your IDE files. You can also paste your code into the browser editor.

For local Python execution, install Python and the Microsoft Python extension. In either editor, use Python: Select Interpreter from the command palette (⌘ Shift P / Ctrl Shift P) to pick your Python environment. Open Terminal → New Terminal for local installation commands. Browser checks already provide the course libraries and sample inputs.

Editor shortcuts

With Auto-close & indent enabled, typing an opening bracket or quote adds its partner. Select code and type a bracket to wrap it. Backspace removes an empty pair; Tab and Shift+Tab indent or outdent; ⌘ / Ctrl + / toggles comments. Use Escape then Tab to leave an editor. Click outside any popup to close it; outside a confirmation, this means Cancel.

Before you leave

The default session is temporary: closing or reloading the tab clears your work. Use Privacy & backups to export your code and progress, or choose Remember on this device to resume in this browser. There is no account or automatic sync between devices.

Try the puzzle yourself before accepting AI suggestions. If you use an assistant, ask for an explanation or a hint rather than a complete answer.

YOUR WORK, YOUR CHOICE

Privacy & backups

Temporary session. Closing or reloading this tab clears your work. Export a backup to keep it.

Keep a copy you control

Export a backup before leaving a temporary session. To move to another device, import that backup there. It contains your code and progress in readable text; keep the file private.

Import checks the file before asking to replace your current work. Maximum backup size: 5 MB. Importing does not turn on device storage.

What this website receives

Your code runs in your browser and is not uploaded for checking. Python Quest has no accounts, passwords, access tokens, analytics, ads, or automatic sharing with AI assistants. Progress stays in this tab unless you choose device storage or export it.

On the public site, Cloudflare receives requests for the website, Python runtime, and library files, including connection information such as your IP address. Those requests do not contain your puzzle code or saved progress. The browser may cache these public files. Read the full privacy details. Links to library documentation open external websites with their own privacy practices.

Start fresh

This clears Python Quest’s current session and its saved progress in this browser. Downloaded files, exported backups, and other websites’ data are unchanged.
